About HDBaseT Wall Plates with Bundled Receivers
HDBaseT wall plate kits with bundled receiver include everything required for a complete single-drop AV installation — a wall plate transmitter that mounts in a standard gang box at the source point and a matched HDBaseT receiver that connects at the display — in a single purchase. All VigilLink bundled-Rx wall plate models operate on HDBaseT 2.0, delivering 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 at full 18Gbps HDMI 2.0 bandwidth over a single Cat6 run at distances up to 40 meters, or up to 150 meters on the VLWP-UHCI150-TR long-range model.
The bundled line covers two input families — USB-C/HDMI 2.0 and MiniDP/HDMI 2.0 — each available with different control and power options to match room requirements. All models feature automatic input detection and switching: the transmitter identifies which of its two inputs has an active signal and routes it to the display without any user or control system intervention required.
Choosing the Right Product
USB-C/HDMI 2.0 input models (VLWP-UHU-TR / VLWP-UHS-TR / VLWP-UHC-TR / VLWP-UHCI150-TR): Accept USB-C and HDMI 2.0 simultaneously, auto-switching to the active source. These are the primary choice for rooms where MacBooks, Windows ultrabooks, and USB-C tablets connect. The UHU-TR adds USB 2.0 extension for KVM and peripherals; the UHS-TR adds RS-232 for control system display commands; the UHC-TR provides POC display-side power plus USB-C charging. The VLWP-UHCI150-TR is the long-range model — 150m over Cat6A — for lecture theaters, large venues, and installations where the display is far from the presenter position, and also includes POC.
MiniDP/HDMI 2.0 input models (VLWP-DHU-TR / VLWP-DHS-TR / VLWP-DHC-TR): Accept MiniDP and HDMI 2.0, auto-switching to the active source. These serve engineering labs, design workstations, and legacy Mac environments where MiniDP is the primary laptop output. Control/power suffixes match the USB-C family: DHU-TR (USB 2.0), DHS-TR (RS-232), DHC-TR (POC).
Frequently Asked Questions
What models are included in the HDBaseT bundled-Rx wall plate range?
Seven models are available: VLWP-UHU-TR (USB-C/HDMI, USB 2.0), VLWP-UHS-TR (USB-C/HDMI, RS-232), VLWP-UHC-TR (USB-C/HDMI, POC), VLWP-UHCI150-TR (USB-C/HDMI, POC, 150m), VLWP-DHU-TR (MiniDP/HDMI, USB 2.0), VLWP-DHS-TR (MiniDP/HDMI, RS-232), and VLWP-DHC-TR (MiniDP/HDMI, POC). All transmit at 40m over Cat6 except the UHCI150-TR at 150m over Cat6A.
Does the auto-switching feature prioritize one input over the other?
Auto-switching activates the input with an active signal. If both inputs are connected simultaneously, the models apply a priority order — typically the most recently connected or designated primary input. In most meeting room installations, only one source is active at a time, so the auto-switch behavior is transparent to users.
What Cat cable is required for these wall plate kits?
Cat6 is sufficient for all 40-meter models. Cat6A is recommended for the VLWP-UHCI150-TR at its full 150-meter range. Cat5e may work at shorter distances but is not recommended for 40m at full 4K@60Hz bandwidth. All models require a direct, un-patched cable run for rated distance performance.
Can the included receiver be mounted in a rack or behind a display?
The included HDBaseT receivers in bundled kits are compact units designed for display-side mounting — typically behind a flat-panel display using the included mounting hardware, or surface-mounted near a projector. They are not 1U rack-mount units. For rack integration, the sold-separately receiver models or VigilLink HDBaseT matrix systems are more appropriate.
Does the RS-232 port on VLWP-UHS and VLWP-DHS models work bidirectionally?
Yes. The RS-232 pass-through on UHS-TR and DHS-TR models is bidirectional — control commands pass from the room control processor (at the wall plate transmitter end) to the display (at the receiver end), and status feedback from the display travels in the reverse direction. This supports full RS-232 control of displays using Crestron, AMX, Extron, or other control systems.
What USB devices are supported by the USB 2.0 extension on -UHU and -DHU models?
USB 2.0 extension supports keyboards, mice, touch screens, USB audio interfaces, USB webcams, and other USB 2.0-compliant peripherals. USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 devices are not supported at full USB 3.x bandwidth — they will operate at USB 2.0 speeds if the device supports USB 2.0 backward compatibility. USB power delivery for device charging is not provided via the USB 2.0 extension port on U-suffix models.
Is the VLWP-UHCI150-TR compatible with the same display-side receivers as the 40m models?
No. The VLWP-UHCI150-TR uses a different receiver optimized for 150m HDBaseT transmission and is bundled with that matched receiver. The receiver included with the 40m models is not compatible with the 150m transmitter. Always use the receiver included in the UHCI150-TR kit or a VigilLink-verified 150m HDBaseT receiver.
Can these wall plates be used as transmitters for a matrix switcher instead of a point-to-point system?
Bundled-Rx models are optimized as matched point-to-point pairs and are not recommended for matrix switcher integration. For matrix switcher installations, use the sold-separately VLWP-HD70-TX or VLWP-2HVG-TX transmitter models, which output a standard HDBaseT 2.0 signal compatible with VigilLink matrix switcher inputs.
